The story of UGG starts off a lot more functionally than you would initially expect from the fashion brand. In the 1970s, Australian surfer Brian Smith moved to California. He noticed that the local surfing community needed a warm sheepskin boot for after a morning session in the water. This is how the first UGG was born, the model that we still know today as the Classic boot.
In the eighties, UGG grew into an iconic brand that reflects the relaxed lifestyle of the Californian surfing community. However, it wasn't until the 2000s that UGG caught on worldwide. When several celebs started wearing the Classic UGG boots, the brand became immensely popular and there was even a shortage of the boots.
